I am a teacher focused on helping learners transition into college. I work predominately with learners who have disengaged from education and society, so many of the resources you see will be aimed at re-engagement and/or assessment of learners support needs.

I have used these resources to engage NEET and PRU learners as they transition into college. the recipes are easy to understand and really good. These are taken from an around the world module that has open up discussions concerning politics and human rights. This has been really enjoyable.
This is a pack I have put together from reading 7 Habit’s of Highly Successful People and Chimp Management by Professor Peters. This has been used with NEET and home schooled learners who have found the transition to college difficult. It has been fairly successful because of the flexibility it offers. At the start you have both a mission statement and dreams & goals, you don’t have to do both. Pick one based on your learners individual needs.
This is a two month pack, the dreams and goals section will take 4x 1 hour sessions with the following tracking and mentoring forms covering a month. The final week of the pack should be about reviewing the leaner’s month and thinking about next steps.
Please let me know what you think, any feedback would be great.
The attached resource can be utilised during the initial assessment or pre-entry phase to gain a deeper understanding of the current support the young person is receiving. The tutor or SENCO will work with the learner to identify the different types of support they receive. The key to this whole activity is getting the young person to identify who they need to approach during certain situations.
Please let me know what you think the feedback will help make this resource even better.
I created this session after reading a book on focus. Within the book it detailed how companies such as google gave some of their employees 20% of their time back to work on their own projects. All they have to do is show their progress and reasoning for researching this new product or system. It has been shown to increase motivation and productivity. the sense of ownership helps to promote over aspects of their role.
young people will work on this project independently with the teacher checking back every now and then to promote reflection through learning conversations. This approach helps the teacher to challenge advanced young people while also allowing time for the scaffolding.
Please let me know what you think as the feedback will improve my own teaching and the resource.
